About Ragdoll Cats
Ragdoll cats are a popular breed known for their striking appearance and gentle temperament. They originated in the 1960s in Riverside, California, where breeder Ann Baker developed them by mixing domestic long-haired cats with specific breeds, including the Birman and Burmese.
The name “Ragdoll” reflects their tendency to go limp when picked up, resembling a ragdoll. Physically, Ragdolls are large cats, typically weighing between 10 to 20 pounds, with semi-long, soft fur that comes in various colors and patterns, such as colorpoint, mitted, and bi-color. Their striking blue eyes are one of their most distinctive features.
In terms of temperament, Ragdolls are known for their affectionate and docile nature.
